This is a distinctive perspective of the Malvern Hills, being the first view of them as you approach Malvern from Worcester. Alison works part-time as a neurophysiologist in the NHS in Birmingham, and the demands can be stressful, so Alison feels a sense of relief and unburdening on seeing this view, knowing that she’s nearly home.
The iridescent paints used in this piece give this piece a new dimension, with colour shifts appearing in different lighting like with changes in weather and seasons, or with different room lighting and even the angle from which it is viewed.
