So, you've wandered through a gallery, fallen in love with a painting, and thought: "One day..." Here’s the secret: you don’t have to wait.
At Aetheria Gallery and Studio in the heart of Great Malvern, we believe that art should be something you live with, not just admire from a distance. Whether you’ve got £30 or £3,000 to spend, you can start collecting contemporary art - right now.
Here’s how to begin your journey into affordable art collecting, without stress (and with lots of joy).
1. Follow What You Love
Before you buy anything, take your time. Explore the gallery. Absorb what moves you. At Aetheria Gallery and Studio, our collection is carefully curated around themes of nature, fantasy, and escapism, often following seasonal changes - so whether you're drawn to dreamy landscapes or enchanting ceramics, there's something here that will speak to you. Create a mental moodboard of what catches your eye. That’s your taste emerging - and that’s where collecting begins.
2. Start Small: Prints, Ceramics & Smaller Paintings
Not every piece of art has to be a major investment. At Aetheria Gallery and Studio, we offer:
Limited edition giclée prints
Small original artworks
Beautiful, frame-worthy greetings cards
These are perfect for first-time collectors (and they make thoughtful gifts, too). You're supporting local talent while bringing something unique into your home.
Want Something Bigger/More Expensive
No Problem. You are welcome to pay for a piece of artwork and take it away with you at the same time. However if that larger sum is not affordable for you, here at Aetheria we offer the option of a payment plan. Each plan is individually tailored to your needs - pay in instalments and collect your artwork after the final payment.
4. Discover the Artists Behind the Work
When you buy contemporary art, you're not just buying an object - you’re connecting with a creative story. And we’re proud to represent some truly inspiring local artists.
You can even meet the makers! Our gallery regularly hosts artist demonstrations and creative workshops, offering a rare chance to see how the magic happens.
5. Visit a Working Studio
Here’s something special: Aetheria Gallery is also a working studio. You’ll often find our Gallery Director, Alison Simons, at work creating her mesmerising fluid acrylic paintings right in the gallery space. Watching the process in real-time connects you to the art in a completely personal way.
And yes - you can collect Alison’s works too.
6. Trust Your Eye (and Ask Us Anything)
You don’t need an art degree to begin collecting - just curiosity and a willingness to explore. If you’re unsure where to start, our friendly gallery staff are always happy to chat, share artist stories, or help you find something that suits your space, style, and budget.
